Our Mission
The mission of First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw is to glorify our Savior, Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit by experiencing the reality of the Gospel for ourselves, and by living out the Gospel toward our fellow believers and those who have yet to be converted.
Our Beliefs
- We believe the Bible is the Word of God, supernaturally inspired, so that it is inerrant in the original manuscripts and preserved by God so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life.
- We believe the Godhead exists eternally in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and that these three are one God.
- We believe Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man, that He was born of a virgin and that He lived a sinless life; that He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins and was raised from the dead bodily on the third day. Later, He ascended to the Father's right hand where He is the head of the church and intercedes for believers, and from whence He is coming again personally, bodily and visibly to set up His Kingdom.
- We believe that in His death, by His shed blood, the Lord Jesus Christ made a perfect atonement for sin, redeeming us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. Men are saved and justified on the simple and single ground of the shed blood.
- We believe such salvation with its forgiveness of sins, its impartation of a new nature and its hope of eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership, or man's efforts, and is of pure grace.
- We believe a true believer is eternally secure, that he cannot lose his salvation, but that sin may interrupt the joy of his fellowship with God and bring the loving discipline of his Heavenly Father.
- We believe all who receive Christ become joint-heirs with Christ; at death, their spirits depart to be with Christ in conscious blessedness; and at the rapture of their bodies, they will be raised to the likeness of the body of His glory and dwell forever in divine presence.
- We believe it is the goal of every Christian to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God and the indwelling Spirit.
- We believe the Holy Spirit is a person, is God, and possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals all believers at the moment of their salvation, and fills them in response to confession of sin and a yielded life.
- We believe that God is the absolute and sole creator of the universe, and that creation was by divine planning, not through evolutionary process.
Our Membership
Profession of Faith and Baptism: if you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord and follow Him in baptism by immersion, we welcome you into our fellowship.
By Letter: As a Baptist whose church membership is at another Baptist Church, we will be pleased to welcome you into our church family should God direct you here. We will happily take care of appropriate details by transferring your membership.
From Another Denomination: If you know in your heart that you are saved and want to become a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw, we invite you to join us. If you have been baptized by post-salvation immersion through another evangelical denomination, we welcome you into our fellowship. If you have not, we ask that you join our fellowship through baptism by immersion, as a testimony of obedience to God's Word, and unity with our body of believers.
Our Worship
Our worship services at First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw are a combination of praise choruses and traditional hymns in a blended worship style featuring our Celebration Choir, our praise teams and ensembles, and gifted musicians on various instruments. Biblical preaching of truth with congregational participation is the major emphasis of our evangelical worship services.
