Pastor Stuart and Michelle ShumwayOriginally from Massachusetts, Pastor Stuart grew up in Stuart,
Fl. At age 22, he trusted in Christ and was radically transformed by His grace.
Called into the ministry two years later, he left for Lynchburg, Va., to earn a
bachelor's degree from Liberty University. While Stuart was a full-time student at Liberty, he pastored New Life Baptist Tabernacle in Ferrum. After graduation,
he came to Raleigh, N.C., to pursue his Master's of Divinity from Southeastern
Baptist Theological Seminary. In April, 2007, Stuart accepted the call to serve as pastor at First Baptist
Church of Lake Waccamaw, N.C. Stuart met his wife, Michelle, in 2008 in Ash, N.C., Michelle's hometown, and they were married in January 2010.
